A girl it is!

Jenna wasn't so sure that the ultrasound from last week gave a reliable prediction of the sex of our second child.  So today, we went to a private 3D/4D imaging company called New Life Ultrasound for a 2nd opinion.  After spending a few minutes in front of their big screen viewer, it was obvious that the predictions of a baby girl were indeed correct.  We will, in fact, be having a little girl.  As for a name, Jenna and I are almost 100% settled on: Emmalynn Paige Wolfe.  I can't wait to meet my baby girl.  We will have some 3D photos to share in a few weeks.  Little Emmie wasn't showing anyone her face today (she had her head turned and her arm in front of her face).  If anyone is in contact with Jenna please encourage her to eat more:)  Jenna is losing weight rather than gaining right now. The tech said that Emmie looked very thin and long in the pictures.

Baby #2

This past Monday, I went with Jenna to the hospital for an ultra-sound at the 17 week point in the pregnancy of our 2nd child.  Normally done at about 20 weeks, this ultra-sound is intended to take critical measurements of the baby's body parts and development.  It is also used to give the parents a likely idea of the sex of the baby if the parents want to find out.  Weren't Jenna and I surprised when the technician informed us that we are likely having a baby girl.  We were so sure that Eli was going to have a little brother.  Needless to say, we will not be painting the new nursery until January 10:)  Jenna swears that it is still going to be a boy (the baby was sitting Indian style[or criss-cross apple sauce for the politically sensitive]) but is reluctantly thinking of a girl's name.  We are leaning toward the name Emmalynn.  Any suggestions?

June trip to the S.D. Zoo

Today we took Eli to the San Diego Zoo. We rode the Arial Tram, took a tour on the tour bus, and Eli even got to pet some of the more domesticated pets at the Kid's Zoo.

Eli became a bit attached to the brown goat and didn't want to leave its side:)

An April trip to the beach

Ever see a 1 year old race down the beach on all four's toward surf worthy waves? What a riot it was to try and keep Eli out of the frigid water this Friday. He absolutely loves the beach!!! Next time we go we will take Jedi with us, because the other side of Ocean Beach was a dog beach:) B the way, I don't think that I have ever mentioned Jedi in theses posts. Jedi is our little jet black Labrador puppy that we got for Eli's birthday. As it would turn out, Jedi would end up being more of my birthday present. Eli hasn't exactly fallen in love with the puppy yet:) I will be sure to get some pics of the boy and his puppy soon.

Special thanks to everyone who helped make Eli's 1st birthday party such an awesome day! (especially Jenna's mom, Jann) I don't think that the day could have gone any better! I have to admit, I got a little choked up listening to everyone cheer my son on while he tried out birthday cake for the 1st time. A warm thanks goes out to everyone who was able to make it to the party. It would not have been so special without all of you there to share it with us!

I am so proud of you Eli. One day I hope that you will visit this blog and view the history of how much that you were loved and supported.

Love, Dad

November was a month of many firsts in our family: We moved into our first home that we have ever owned, Eli began crawling, and he was given his first ever hair cut on his first ever Thanksgiving. November is also a month to meditate on all of our many blessings this year, and there are sooooo many to ponder. In this horrible recession, Jenna and I, both, have been able to stay employed. Our first child made it into the world healthy and happy despite all of the worry and doubt during his troubled pregnancy. We purchased our first home, and have begun to add our own personal touches to it. The list goes on and on! The good Lord has truly blessed us!

Mega Milestone

We were beginning to wonder if Eli was going to walk before he crawled, but alas, crawling came first:) Jenna got this on her phone and sent it to me at work. I couldn't wait to get it on our blog. We will get some better footage on our actual video camera soon and share in HD:)

Family trip to a Storm game

What a great night seeing a minor league baseball game can be! I couldn't tell you the names of any of the players, but I am sure that we will do this again many, many more times in the future. Eli was such a good sport, and never seemed fussy until the "du du du du ta da, CHARGE" continually woke him up.
I can't believe that we have lived in the Temecula Valley for over 6 years and we have never watched a Lake Elsinore Storm game. Fun and affordable to boot:) We will be back.

Eli Meets Solid(ish) Food

August was the month of new mile stones for Eli. While not yet crawling, Eli has had his first taste of non-bottled dinner. The funny thing is, he seems to know what he's doing better than we do. We are such rookie parents:) He is taking to eating with a spoon very well. The trick is getting him not to help with his left hand. If he gets a hold of the spoon we have to wrestle it away from him. Does this mean he will be a Southpaw? Good thing bath time now follows dinner time:)

Cabin fever turned into a short, yet very fun little trip to the beach:) Eli never seems to tire of looking around at new places. This was his first time to the beach, and it seemed as if he soaked in every detail. We forgot his little hat, so I gave him mine, and those pics are now my new all time favorites:) Good to know that Oceanside, CA is so close. I can't wait to take him there again to build some sand castles when he is a little older. Thanks for the suggestion, Tim;)

Eli and his bouncy seat!

I apologize for sounding like a 12 year old girl at a Jonas Brothers' concert, but I was so moved by Eli learning to interact with his surroundings:) Until today we would put him in his new bouncy seat and watch him lean forward, then pass out. Today we put him in his bouncy and it was like a light switch went on in his little mind and he suddenly understood how to bounce and manipulate all of the little toys! It was a definite milestone in his motor skills development. How better a way to end the work day than watching your infant son play and laugh?

Father's Day 2009

Sending my nephew Matt airborne

My dad always said, "Look at your woman's mom. If her mom looks good then your woman will probably age well too." Redneck words of wisdom lol. Guess Jenna's in good shape cause Jann still looks great!

What a great time we had on my 1st of hopefully countless Father's Days to come:) I could not be more blown away by my amazing son. At almost four months old, Eli went for his first swim today. While he seemed to really enjoy it, his Mommy was a little stressed:) Wait for it... Wait for it... And Jenna melts down at the end of the video lololol. Thanks Jenna for making it such a great day. I love you!

Jenna's 1st Mother's Day as a Mommy

What a great Mother's Day celebration we had at Rob and Jann's Yesterday! It was extra special because this was Jenna's 1st Mother's Day as a Mommy. We were blessed with sharing the day with 4 other Moms as well and the video gives the introductions. I would have never guessed that my wife would look so beautiful only 2 months after giving birth. You truly are a fine wine Jenna. You just keep getting better with age:)

Jenna's Birthday

March is a veeeerry busy month! Eli was born just 18 days ago. Jenna's Birthday (video clip) was on the 12th. Our beloved little nephew Matt (Jenna's brother's oldest boy) turned 7 on the 13th. Matt's mommy, Dayna's birthday was the 16th, and mine is coming on the 24th. Somehow the three families, the Wolfes, the Helfers and the Allisons (Dayna's parents and brother) all find a way to get it all done and do it all together. We are sooo blessed to all live within an hour of each other. As for the rest of our dearly missed relatives, I try to offer these little tid-bits of video and photos to hopefully allow you all to still feel a part of it. In response to popular demand from friends and family I will also begin a Facebook page for the Wolfe Family. I will continue to blog on this thread mostly for the sake of Eli to be able to have a running history of his life. If any of you are more comfortable with the blog site than the facebook, please send me a message and I will be sure to add as much of what we are putting in facebook in the blog as well.

Dr. Ellsworth R. Wolfe gets to meet his namesake

Yesterday, my grandfather got to meet his great-grandson. Here are a few photos of Ellsworth R. Wolfe holding Eli Ellsworth Wolfe. Gramps definitely has the magic touch. Eli didn't cry the entire time Grandpa held him. Great job Gramps!

Baby & Baby Daddy

Here is another update. I was so excited during my last post that I forgot to enter Eli's Stats. Eli Ellsworth Wolfe was born March 1st 2009 at 816am. He was 20 inches long and weighed in at 7.6lbs (not bad for 3 weeks early).
We are all adjusting well to Eli's arrival. Other than being scared to death and smelling/inspecting every poo, were are quite happy and relieved. Thanks to Jenna, I am getting plenty of sleep and I try to return the favor during the daylight hours by doing the house work/cooking to allow her some down time. I am not equipped for the feedings, but I do try to do all of the diaper changes. We are so happy to be parents, and are soooooo in love with our little boy!
Sorry for the horrible mumbling from me on the video clip, but I guess that I have poor control of my voice when I am trying to talk quietly:) I will be sure to shout it out and really "sell it" on the next one.

Eli is Here!

Its a glorious time in the Wolfe household! On the night of 2/28, Jenna's water broke unexpectedly. By 8:16am the next morning Eli was born. We have had plenty of scares and worries beginning with the hemorrhaging back in September. Praise God, He answered our prayers and kept little Eli safe until he could be born to us. He is our little miracle baby!
Thankfully he seems to look just like his Mommy, and looks to hopefully have the Helfer hairline as well:) We have been so blessed through all of this! Our overly generous friends and family have provided us with everything we needed for Eli's arrival. I can't wait to update this website with pictures of all his firsts!

Playing with the new video camera

Jenna and I just got a new video camera as our Christmas present to each other, and this is my first attempt at trying to share video online. I hope that the file isn't too huge. The funny thing is this is the edited version of it too:)

Eli is coming!

Look how big Jenna is getting! We have a linebacker on the way. We had our most recent ultra sound today. It is so awesome to see how Eli is developing. Every time we see him he gets a little more defined. He was good enough to show us his whole body today, and all of his measurements have been taken. It is truly amazing how the Almighty has made us to be capable of the reproduction process. We are even beginning to feel Eli moving in the womb! Apparently Eli already loves music because he is always moving when music is playing.
